Aaand cut! #AuRevoirFirstSem

We were asked to do a music video with a short film in it about Maternal Health with some German Expressionism, Bollywood and French Surrealism. When I told my group mates that I picked “Maternal Health”, they weren’t really happy because they wanted me to pick a style of J-Horror. Yana was the person who made the story. It is a story about pregnant women who is often paranoid of the child’s result— if it is safe or not. In the movie, our pregnant girl, Julia, wakes up in unusual places and there will be us, the unknown, scary characters who wear masks will always be behind or catching Julia, just like Tom and Jerry, and she has to run because she is protecting her baby. Thankfully, each of us participated very well. If our director/leader says that we have to bring things like these, we will, or have to buy stuff even though it’s pricey, we will still buy in order to achieve the music video we want. That is why there wasn’t a big problem if our leader says there’ll be a shooting, although some of us comes in late. This is also the reason why we only had 2 days of shooting because our director is often satisfied with our acting and dancing skills. In fact, the masks were made in Starbucks, SM Manila! Big thanks to the staff and costumers who did not seem to mind us.

Overall, it was really challenging! The heat and the stress, yet we still managed to laugh it off and call it a day. I guess the editing part was really the problem we had since the editor said that, "SD card won’t work” or “Most of the parts are missing” and the worst part was, we were all panicking because half of us were already in their vacations so Alex, Janine and I, who were enjoying our “termbreak free” vacation in Tagaytay, we only had an hour in the place because we had to travel back to Parañaque because that is where our director, Yana, lives. (LOL). I am proud to say that we have applied the three styles— German Expressionism, French Surrealism, and Bollywood. In this music video we had, we realized that being a Mass Communication student wouldn’t really be easy as most people think. Like, you really have to be creative and you are not supposed to say, “Pwede na yan, papasa na tayo diyan.” Also, you wouldn’t even dare to procrastinate because the deadline IS the deadline. Nonetheless, our journey was super duper fun! I am beyond grateful that I am with Yana, Julia, Janine, Reva and Alex. It was all worth it! We even met new friends, experienced something new in our lives and being in some places I’ve never been with new people/friends are my best parts of the shoot.

Au Revoir, First Semester! Thank you, sir Nate! :)
